Intern Job Description
Note: This is an unpaid position
TITLE OF POSITION: PUBLIC AFFAIRS ASSISTANT
SUPERVISED BY: Public Affairs Officer
PURPOSE OF JOB: Interns would be assisting the public affairs officer with a variety of activities. Duties include administrative and clerical tasks, as well as, some substantive projects. Support the Public Affairs staff by assisting with media inquiries, press releases, scheduling adult tours, and advertising/marketing projects.
DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Assist Public Affairs Officers with press releases
- Assist in conducting adult tours
- Prepare mass mailings
- Input data in access database
- Answer questions about the facility, exhibits, and general Carter history
COMMITMENT REQUIRED:
A minimum commitment of four hours per day or 100 hours during the term of their internship is required.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
- Reliable, responsible
- Able to work independently
- Able to accept supervision
- Typing skills and computer skills helpful
- Detail oriented
- Good organizational skills helpful
TRAINING/ORIENTATION PROVIDED:
- On the job training provided by Public Affairs Officer
- Orientation on the life and times of Jimmy Carter
LOCATION OF JOB:
The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum, Atlanta, Georgia
